The Royal Melbourne Philharmonic (RMP) Choir welcomes dedicated singers to be part of one of Australia’s most historic and celebrated choral ensembles. If you are passionate about performing great music, challenging yourself artistically, and being part of a warm and committed musical community – we invite you to audition.
How to Audition
To apply for chorister membership, please complete our audition application form and select your preferred audition time.
Auditions are held at the RMP’s home:
📍 Drill Hall, 239 A’Beckett Street, Melbourne
Your audition will be heard by our Chief Conductor and Accompanist and includes:
- A prepared piece of your choice*
- Sight reading
- Arpeggios and scales
- Rhythm exercises
* Your prepared piece can be of any genre or style – choose something you feel confident singing that showcases your range and voice type. Please bring sheet music for the accompanist.

Rehearsals
RMP Choir rehearses weekly on Tuesday evenings, year-round. Members are expected to maintain consistent attendance and uphold a high standard of musical preparation and professionalism.
Membership Fees
Membership fees are based on age and employment status. For 2025, the standard full adult membership fee is $330.
Concession and student rates are available.
